WINCHELL, Joseph Richard (Rick)
On Friday, June 13, 2003 in his 53rd year, Rick passed away suddenly on the 17th hole (after a birdie on 16). He lived life to the fullest and leaves a remarkable legacy of family, friendship, business and community service. For the past five years, Rick has been Vice President of Marketing and Communications of MetCap Living and was previously the Executive Director of the Ontario Residential Care Association and the founder and President of Communicade Marketing Services. Rick was a graduate of Appleby College and received a degree in journalism from Bowling Green State University, which he attended on a hockey scholarship. Rick will be greatly missed by his wife Laura, his sons Brett, Gray, and Johnny and Willy Aikman, his step-daughter Sam Ferguson, his sister Randy Winchell, and his brother Rob Paterson and sister-in-law Rose Paterson. Rick is the son of the late Lloy and Joe Winchell, grandson of Mildred Winchell, and nephew of David Winchell and Mary Gardner. Much loved son-in-law of Mary Kavanagh; respected and loved brother- in-law of Irene, Sheila, Terry and Sarah Kavanagh, Gail and John Daum, and Joannie and David Gwillim; cherished uncle of Holly Paterson, Lesley Blackburn and her husband John, Robert Marrs, Matthew Cox, Sally, Allison and Caroline Kavanagh, and Tommy and Charlotte Gwillim. Rick will be greatly missed by many cousins and friends whom he loved enormously. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2003 at St. Jude's Anglican Church, 160 William Street, Oakville at 2 p.m. No visitation is planned.
