Joy DE WERTH Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that our family sadly announces Joy's passing, at home in Thornbury on Friday, June 14, 2024, with family at her side, at a time and place of her choosing. She will be deeply missed by Anthony "Tony," her husband of 55 years; children, Tracy (Don), Jennifer, and Timothy (Carmen); and grandchildren, Nathan, Laura, Alexandra and Madelynn. She will be missed by sister, Raechel Robertson (Trevor); and will be remembered fondly by her nieces and nephews. Joy attended school in Toronto (Jessie Ketchum High School) and over the ensuing several years worked for various companies in the Finance industry on Bay Street, Toronto, many of those years with the late A.D.G. (Tony) Reid as his Personal Assistant. She then ran her own company, Make-a-Date Calendars, for six years before retiring to raise her family. Following husband Tony's retirement, she moved to De Grassi Cove on Lake Simcoe where she spent summers, and wintered in Stuart, Florida, at Mariner Sands Country Club where she was very active on multiple Member Committees. More recently, she was an enthusiastic and involved member of Lora Bay Golf Club in Thornbury, Ontario. The family wish to thank the staff of RVH, and a special thank you to Dr. Jessica Singh, whose wonderful care for the last six years enabled Joy to have an enjoyable quality of life. Thanks also to Dr. Tim Remillard in Thornbury, Ontario, for his care in his role as Joy's family doctor. A private cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Joy's Life will be held at Lora Bay Golf Club on Thursday, July 18th, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. No flowers please, but in lieu, please consider a donation to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Foundation at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario, or to the Mariner Sands Foundation in Stuart, Florida. Donations may be made directly or through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON N4L 1B9, to whom arrangements have been entrusted. www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca

I loved Joy from the moment we met. We laughed till we hurt at our savvy “Investment” club meetings and all of the other activities we shared. I just wish I could have been up there during this time. (I don’t think ‘Joyous’ knew I lost my dear husband last summer)
