With great sadness, the family of Joy Esther Lowenstein announces her passing on February 23, 2025. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, on June 29, 1930, Joy was predeceased in 2022, by Jules, her beloved husband of 72 years. Joy is survived by her dear sister, Pat, in Melbourne, Australia. Joy and Jules immigrated to Toronto in 1977 and ran Present Place, their giftware store on Eglinton and Avenue Road, where they served many happy customers. She will be sorely missed by her children, David, Larry and Nina, and Kim and Mark; her nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Joy loved the arts - ballet, dance, and music. Most of all, she enjoyed being surrounded by her family. She was sustained by their attention and affection. Joy was a diminutive lady with a big personality. She was a perennial optimist with a vibrant spirit and determination. Our lives are imbued with that spirit and imprinted with her anecdotes and expressions, treasured memories we hold forever in our hearts. We thank her caregivers at Humber River Hospital and the Terraces at Baycrest. A service will be held at Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue West (three lights west of Dufferin), on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. For Shiva information, please see
