JOYCE STREBEL Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Joyce Marguerite Strebel (nee Soehner). Joyce passed away peacefully, with great care at Houses of Providence on May 1, 2025, two months shy of her 100th birthday. Joyce was born on July 20, 1925, in Elmira, Ontario, to her parents, Henry and Bertha Soehner. She was predeceased by her cherished husband, Stuart Herbert Strebel, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage. Their bond was a true partnership, built on mutual respect and love. Dearest mother of Susan, Beverley (James Baker) and Patricia (Kevin Chicules). Loving grandmother of James (Melissa Hamilton), Sarah (Jason Frank), Matthew, Emily and Tyler; and blessed to have been a great-grandmother to Brody, Riley and Brooklyn. Joyce will be remembered for her kindness, her positive outlook, her independence and her devotion to her husband and family. A woman of quiet strength and strong faith, she was a pillar of Advent Lutheran Church where she faithfully served for many years in various ministries. Her warm smile and gentle spirit touched everyone she met. Joyce and Stu enjoyed many memorable years as active members at the Donalda Club, where they made lifelong friends and travel companions. A memorial service will be held at Advent Lutheran Church (2800 Don Mills Road) on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Dear Sue and family,
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. While your mother’s long and beautiful life is something to celebrate, I know that saying goodbye is never easy. She was surrounded by love, by family, and by the warmth of a life well-lived—what a remarkable legacy to leave behind.

May her memory bring you comfort, and may you find peace in knowing how much she was cherished. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Dear Susan,Beverly and Patricia + all family members. Joy and Martin Johannessen are so sad ton hear of your mother's death. We met your mum and dad in 1976,when we started our new business live together. As time passed our Christian faith made us connect together in such a way that they both became mentors on how to bring up our family and business journey for nearly 50 years. God has blessed us when brought us together and will forever be in our hearts through to the end of our lifes journey on this planet.
God bless all of you,
Joy and Martin.
