JOYCE VAN NEST Obituary
(1937–2025) Joyce Van Nest died August 27, 2025, following a prolonged illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Tom and Edith Paterson; her former husband, Gary Van Nest; her sister, Margaret (Bruce) Waller; and her daughter, Alison Van Nest. She is survived by her brother, Tom (Cindy) Paterson; her son, Richard (Jan) Van Nest; and by grandchildren, Will (Stephanie) Van Nest and Cavelle Van Nest, Braden (Lorelle) Klein, Daniel (Claire) Klein, David Klein, and Dante Cimolai; great-grandchildren, Owen, Madeleine, and Camille Klein, Natalie Klein; as well as niece, Andrea (Ken); and nephew, Jamie (Tiffany) Paterson. Joyce was a graduate of Walkerville Collegiate Windsor, London Teachers' College and University of Toronto (Fine Art). She was a founding member and president of the Kingsway Park Ratepayers Association and a first volunteer in Etobicoke Public schools. She was a docent and committee member of the Art Gallery of Ontario for 10 years and docent at the Vero Beach Museum of Art (Florida) for 25 years. Family, art, tennis, and crossword puzzles were her loves and joys, and she faced her death as she lived her life - with bravery and determination. A private interment followed cremation.
