Judith (J.R.) Helen Thornton (née Robinson) passed away peacefully at home in Toronto on February 7, 2026, at the age of 85. Judith was predeceased by her parents, Sidney and Ruby, and by her sister, Jane. She is survived by her husband, David; her sister, Susan, and Susan's husband Bill; six nieces and nephews; her daughters, Martha and Alice; her son-in-law, Scott; and her grandchildren, Zephan and Xanthe. Born in St. Catharines, Ontario, Judith was a proud graduate of the University of Toronto, earning her pharmacy degree in 1965. She built a meaningful career as a pharmacist on the Danforth, known for her warmth, skill, and genuine care for the people she served. Judith's larger-than-life personality and welcoming spirit made her a bright presence in any room. She loved her walking adventures throughout Italy, tending her to beloved garden, and giving back through Christ Church Deer Park, including her dedicated leadership with the Out of the Cold program. She also valued her longstanding connection with Delta Delta Delta. A visitation will be held at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Ave., on Thursday, February 19th, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. A service will take place at Christ Church Deer Park, 1570 Yonge St., on Friday, February 20th, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow.
