Julian REED Obituary

JULIAN ALEXANDER ARNOTT REED Peacefully, on Thursday January 6, 2022 at the Georgetown Hospital. Julian, in his 86th year, beloved husband of Deanna for 61 years. Loving father of Chris, Rob (Paula) and Melanie (Jeff) Doupe. Loved grandpa of Elgin, Avery, Shannon and Weston. Dear brother of Laurie (Judith). Julian was predeceased by his sister Prudence and by his brother King. Julian was honored to be elected by the constituents in his riding (Halton) and was very proud to serve the people of his riding during his political tenure. He was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 1975 and twice thereafter. In 1993, he was elected to the federal Parliament, also serving for an additional two elections. Julian's varied life history included singing leads in musicals put on in Kitchener's Centre in the Square. These included: The King and I; A Fiddler on the Roof; Carousel and more. Early in his career he referred to himself as an 'actor-farmer'. Julian will be forever remembered for the love of his family, his passion for farming, music, live stage theatre and the community of Norval. A public visitation and celebration of Julian's life will take place at a later date when current COVID-19 restrictions have been eased and is safe to gather. Memorial contributions to Parkinson Canada would be appreciated. To make a memorial contribution or to send the family a condolence message online, please visit www.jonesfuneralhome.co

When I was Minster of Natural Resouces Julian was a wonderful mentor. An incredible member who made a significant difference in the lives of many. My condolences to his family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ivan and I send our sympathies and prayers to all the Reed family in your time of great loss. Julian´s was a life well lived that touched many lives . One of my fondest memories of Julian was at at a banquet in 1980 when I was receiving the Chamber of Commerce,Citizen of the Year Award. Instead of making the traditional government speech that night, Julian lead the crowd in singing a `rousing rendition of Let Me Call You Sweetheart´. That special tribute is one that I will long remember.
God bless,

We were so sorry to hear of Julians passing. We are thinking of Deanna and all his family at this time. We have lost touch after our move to Nova Scotia but enjoyed the last time we surprised Julian in Ottawa. Julian had such a joy for life.
