Dad
This was one of the most difficult things I have ever had to write and I am writing this while fighting back my own tears - but only just. My mind is so filled with emotion
I admire and love the man you are. A man who worked hard all his life, never bemoaning life, always accepting how things were and enjoying the finer moment life offered you. You taught me a lot about what should matter to a person and how to just be happy even if life doesn't always go my way.
You are a true Renaissance man, a walking encyclopedia, utterly brilliant and also humble and modest to a fault, the most honest person I will ever know. Most people knew you for your brain: your academic achievements and intellectual pursuits. But I know you simple as my Dad, you've raised wonderful kids, beautiful, intelligent grandchildren, your life hasn't always been easy, but it is full of love. I can only hope, Dad, that you've felt it tooevery ounce of love, respect, kindness and admiration we all have for you. I hope you feel it inside, and are proud of the tremendous life you have lived. You've genuinely had it all.
With all our love,
Mercedes, Perry, Simeon, London

Dear Heather and the other members of Julio's family; I am so sorry to hear of his death. The good that he has done will live on forever. I remember how he embraced the reality that the recovery journey for someone with a mental illness was not solely hospital based. He was not afraid to stand up for his beliefs. May your memories be a comfort to you.
