Junko YAMAMOTO Obituary

JUNKO "JUNE" YAMAMOTO March 22, 1943 - November 12, 2021 The Yamamoto family is deeply saddened to announce the loss of June, who passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2021, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Beloved wife to Soichiro (Sam) for 56 wonderful years, proud mother to George and Koji (his wife Tomoko), loving grandmother to Ken and Emma, caring elder sister to Nobuyoshi Futatsugi and Noriko Nagano. June will also be dearly missed by her many relatives, friends, Rotarian friends, and employees of Uni-ram Corporation. Her professional career includes running a successful trading company for 43 years as Owner and General Manager. She was also Vice President of Uni-ram Corporation, a prospering manufacturing enterprise, until the end of this June. She has been particularly active in charitable activities through our Yamamoto Foundation as well as the Markham Sunrise Rotary Club. June established an orphanage "Paadai House" in Chennai, India in 2001 to save lives of abandoned small girls. She also participated in building a special school for mentally handicapped children in Pokala, Nepal. June held many Charity concerts in Tokyo, Toronto and Madrid to raise funds. She has been a dedicated supporter for many years to numerous organizations including the Japanese Canadian Culture Centre (JCCC), Japanese Social Services (JSS), Royal Ontario Museum, Art Gallery of Ontario and World Vision. Visitation in June's memory will be held on Friday November 19th from 3:00 -7:00 p.m. at York Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Ave, Toronto, ON. A Private Funeral Service, by invitation only, will be held on November 20th. Due to requirements under Corvid-19, proof of dual-vaccination and photo ID will be required from all guests that are over 12 years of age. Masks or Facial Coverings must be worn at all times. For those who wish to view the service remotely, a livestream link will become available on her memorial page as of 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 20th. The Yamamoto family greatly appreciates your ongoing support during this difficult time. As per June's strong wish and will, please consider making a donation to JSS (Japanese Social Services) in June's memory, in lieu of flowers or contribution. Dear Sam and family. Words cannot express the sadness upon hearing the news about Junko. To use a memorable song lyrics: .. it seems to me Junko lived her life Like a candle in the wind Never fading with the sunset Junko's candle's burned out long before her legend ever will ... All our words cannot express The joy she brought me and others through the years of friendship We will miss the wings of her compassion and generosity of spirit More than any of us will ever know. Sincere condolences on your loss of a dear wife, mother, grandmother and for us a true role model.
