Juozas "JOSEPH" Uleckas M.D.

JUOZAS (JOSEPH) ULECKAS, M.D. (AUGUST 17, 1917 ­ APRIL 21, 2006) After a brief illness at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Dr. Maria Arstikaitis, father of Jurate and Gintaras (Irene Armstrong), and senelis to Jonas, Kristina, and Simone. The youngest of fourteen children born to Matas and Katerina (nee Raskauskas) in Kauno Region, Lithuania. Graduated from the medical school at Heidelberg University and practiced physical medicine until his retirement in 1998. Gardening, Lithuania, books, and his grandchildren were his passions. Family and friends will be received at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of Jane subway, from 2-4 and 7- 9 p.m. (prayers at 8 p.m.) on Monday, April 24. A funeral mass to celebrate Juozas' life will be held at The Parish of the Resurrection Church, 1 Resurrection Rd., Toronto at 10:00 am on Tuesday April 25, 2006. Interment to follow at Anapilis (St. John's Lithuanian) Cemetery in Mississauga. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Juozas' memory to The Parish of the Resurrection Church.
