JUSTYN KLYM Obituary

(1929 – 2026) Justyn passed away peacefully at home in Toronto on February 19, 2026, at the age of 96. Beloved husband to Jacqueline for 73 years and devoted father to Michael (Leanne), Paul (Carol), Natalie and Mark (Nicole). Proud Dido to Kayla, Brenna and Eli. Born in Siedlce, Poland, to Ukrainian parents, he studied architecture in Leuven, Belgium, where he met Jacqueline, the love of his life, before immigrating to Canada in 1953. After completing his studies at the University of Toronto, he practised architecture in Toronto for decades, designing such landmarks as 2 Bloor West and Cumberland Terrace. A gifted visual artist and photographer, he held his first solo exhibition at age 81, Travels Through Europe: 1956–1960, at the Dylan Ellis Gallery in Toronto, where The Globe and Mail described his photographs as "melancholy, twinkling snow globes." He found particular happiness with family and at their property outside Toronto, where weekends and later retirement were spent tending the land, working outdoors and building a footbridge himself at age 80. He will be remembered for his independence, quiet creativity and enduring devotion to family and art. The family extends their gratitude to the staff and care workers at Russell Hill Retirement Residence and Ontario Health at Home for their devoted care. Funeral Mass Friday, March 20, 2026, 10:30 a.m., St. Bonaventure's Church, 1300 Leslie St., Toronto. Reception to follow. Donations to a charity of choice.

In memory of Mr.Klym as I always knew him ;) and for his family, my condolences go out to them. He was always approachable to us, the friends of Mike, Paul, Mark and Natalie but still always carried the presence of the 'Father' of the house all the while standing beside Mrs. Klym.
Justyn had creative imagination and the sense of adventure which he imparted upon his family, he will be missed.

Condolences to the Klym family. Justyn was a wonderful person, he was so warm and welcoming to us when as teenagers when we would unexpectedly congregate countless times at the Klym´s Don Mills home on a Friday or Saturday night.
He was so personable, interesting and intelligent to talk to about anything with sincere interest in other perspectives. He was a fantastic roll model to everyone.
