(née Gibson, July 29, 1951 – March 19, 2026) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Marie Wetmore on March 19, 2026 at Sunnybrook Hospital, with her beloved husband and sons by her side. Karen was an extraordinary woman who formed a connection with everyone she met. She was the heart and soul of her family and was deeply committed to fostering a home grounded in love, kindness, and responsibility. She was devoted to her husband John, was a loving mother, and a very proud Nana. She is survived by her three sons, Greg (Jennifer), Cameron (Sara), and Sean, as well as her nine cherished grandchildren: Kayleigh, Quinn, Campbell, Layla, Brigham, Eloise, Archer, Georgette, and Milo. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother Jim (Jean), along with many nieces and nephews and Simone (mother of Georgie and Milo). Karen was predeceased by her dear mother, Nora Gibson, who was a beautiful role model in her life. Karen graduated from the St. Michael's Hospital Nursing Program in 1972, earning her Registered Nurse designation. She brought dedication, skill, and compassion to her work, including in the emergency department, where she made a meaningful impact on many lives. She lived a full and vibrant life, defined by generosity, warmth, and a deep commitment to family and community. Karen was an active volunteer with the Junior League, the Massey Centre, and her children's schools. Her trusty van was often in motion, ferrying kids to countless school and sporting events. She also enjoyed many years of tennis at the Granite Club and golf at The Granite Golf Club, where she served as Ladies' Captain in its early years. John and Karen created a winter home on Marco Island, Florida, where they built lifelong friendships and embraced an active lifestyle at The Island Club. Marco became a special place in Karen's heart, filled with sunny beaches and unforgettable sunsets. A celebration of life will be held at the Granite Club, 2350 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, on Friday, March 27 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The family looks forward to welcoming extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation or a
Charity of Your Choice in Karen's memory. Karen will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
