KARINA RAMMELL Obituary

(February 16, 1961 – August 28, 2025). It is sad indeed that her grieving dad must share the news that his dear Karina passed away on August 28th. Karina will be greatly missed by her father; her aunt, Mary, and cousins, Davina, Janis and Richard and their families, all residing in the United Kingdom; cousins Juliet, Helena and Steve and their families, all residing in the United States. Karina was predeceased by her mother, Sophie, sister, Jessica, and aunt, Anne. Born in London, England, within the sound of Bow Bells, she was always delighted that she was therefore a genuine cockney. She was the daughter of John and Sophie Rammell and sister of Jessica. Karina came to Canada with her parents in 1969 where they lived in Northern Toronto and she attended Trent University where she made life-long friends. Because of her love of animals, especially dogs, Karina first worked as a veterinarian's receptionist. Later she was employed by the City of Toronto, originally in the Mayor's Department and subsequently in the Planning Department where she remained until she retired. What brought her the most joy was her family and her life outside of work. Karina enjoyed family camping holidays and cottaging with university friends. Karina was an inspired artist, studying glasswork, ceramics and devoting much of her spare time to arts and crafts of all sorts. For many years she was a member of The Arts and Letters Club of Toronto where she participated in the annual Spring Revue and other dramatic productions there. She loved singing and performing on stage. Karina had been introduced to theatre at the age of three while sitting on her father's knee watching a Christmas pantomime in London, England. She was captivated by the stage and its wonderful world of make believe. Over the years she was lucky enough to be involved in shows such as "Bells are Ringing," "My Fair Lady," "Anything Goes." For several years Karina studied singing with The Gerald Isaac Studio and appeared in several musical revues. Her bright light will be missed by many. A funeral service will be held at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville), Toronto, on Wednesday, September 10th, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that if you wish a donation can be made to The O'Neill Centre or a Charity of Your Choice. Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.

I, Steve Johnston, am saddened that this wonderful talented fearless performer and person has passed. Karina lit up any place she entered. I am honoured to have known her, her mother and father, Sophie and John. I am also writing for my parents. Our whole family are such big fans of the Rammells on every level. I performed many times on stage with Karina on the A&L stage, and my father did too, and it always lifted his spirits and wanted me to let everyone know. We will miss Karina very much and she was a person that made this world better. Condolences to family, friends, and everyone.

Terrific stage talent and, offstage insights unparalleled. She often brought suggestions and issues to my attention, (as director) that I would have otherwise missed. I thrived on her endless smiles. betty

I have very fond memories of Karina from the Arts and Letters Club, where she proved again and again on stage that she was a lovely singer and a terrific actress. Offstage, she was enthusiastic and a warm friend. Sandra and I send our greatest sympathies, John.

Dear Karina I first saw her on stage at the Arts and Letters Club, where she was
a force. She took her acting seriously and her great love for others was evident, as was the love she had for her parents. We always think we will meet people again, and now here we are. Sending condolences. Marjut and Tap
