Kathleen SHOTBOLT Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kathleen "Kay" Isobel Shotbolt (nee Cubitt-Cooke), who left us peacefully, at the age of 95. Born May 31, 1929, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Kay's life was a testament to kindness, joy, and a love for others. Kay will be profoundly missed by her three sons, Kelly (Mary Lou), Kevin (Fiona), and Jeff; her beloved seven grandchildren, Katie, Jennifer, Ryan, Andrew, Lindsay, Jamie, and Megan; and four great-grandchildren, Sophie, Jack, Peter, and Kala. Her family was her pride and joy and her unwavering love and support were a constant source of strength and comfort. A devoted fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, Kay's enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and she could often be found cheering on her favorite team with the same vibrant energy that she brought to all aspects of her life. Her friends at her retirement home will remember her for her wonderful sense of humour and her infectious laughter, which could brighten the darkest of days. Kay had an extraordinary ability to find joy in the simplest of moments and shared that joy generously with everyone around her. Kay's legacy of kindness extended beyond her family and friends, touching the lives of many she encountered. Her warm smile and genuine concern for others left an indelible mark on all who knew her, whether for a moment or a lifetime. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and an enduring spirit of generosity. Kay's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Covenant House at covenanthousetoronto.ca. May she rest in peace.

I had the honor of being Kay’s physician for many years. She was a strong, positive and cheerful person. She was very well liked by the office staff. She worshipped her sons and had so much joy from her daughters in law and grandchildren. My deepest sympathies and my thoughts are with you all.
