Kathryn BROWN Obituary

Kathryn Ann Brown (nee Haroun), died on Sunday, July 7, 2024, while visiting her parents in Mississauga. Katie leaves behind her loving husband, Kevin; beloved children, Lincoln and Addison; cherished daughter, of Gamal and Jackie Haroun; heart broken brothers and sister, James, Christopher and Elizabeth. Katie was born in Toronto, on October 27, 1978. She attended Fern Hill School, and graduated from Appleby College, as an Ontario Scholar. She then graduated from Dalhousie University, with a double major in business and economics. Prior to settling down, she was a marketing manager, for a Canada-wide entertainment company. She then extensively traveled the world. Once she married, she devoted her life to her family, still traveling the world, including one year in Nicaragua. Her kindness to others was unsurpassed, and she and her family fed the homeless weekly. She made the soups, and Kevin and the children made the sandwiches. Not long before her death, she told us of having lunch with her children in nearby malls, and often asking a woman at a table close by sitting alone to join them. Katie had a huge heart, and was one of those special people who never forgot a birthday, never turned her back on friends, always kept in touch with distant cousins, and would do anything for anyone. She was fiercely loyal. Once you were a friend of Katie's, you were a friend for life. Having been diagnosed with Lupus, several years ago, she suffered greatly and was often bedridden, yet she home-schooled her children with such delight. She was also a survivor of cervical cancer. Given the health complications of Lupus, she often hid the severity of her illness from her family. Katie will be sadly missed, leaving a huge hole in each of our hearts. Until we meet again in Heaven, in the presence of our merciful father and gentle mother and oh so many relatives! In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please consider donating to Lupus Canada (lupuscanada.org). The funeral will be private, with only family attending. A Celebration of Life will be planned for September or October, at the Mississaugua Golf and Country Club.

Sending you all so much love and many prayers for strength.

To me, there was nothing like Katie´s kindness, her laughter, her quick wit and her ability to get along with everyone. Wherever Katie arrived, you knew the air would have more positivity and brightness about it. I have a bucket full of amusing stories where Katie definitely was the mastermind and I was part of the execution. Everything also always ended up in a laugh.

Katie and I recently reconnected and she had not changed at all. She wanted to know all the details about my problems in such a genuine caring manner. I had remarked to my sister not too long ago about how truly good hearted she was and how our friendship felt like it never skipped a beat. I also truly admired Katie´s strength, character and how she genuinely relied on her faith to get her through challenges. God took such a precious gem back with him and while we are all devastated, she left a legacy with how she loved and how much of an impact she made everywhere she went. I know the pain is so great for so many as Katie was fiercely different and fiercely loved.

Katie´s kids were the apples of her eyes and I know she is watching them carefully above, surrounded by her extended friends and family (who are the best). Sending you all love and if I can do anything, please let me know.
