Keith MACDONALD Obituary

DR. KEITH G. MACDONALD July 16, 1936 - April 5, 2021 With profound sadness we share the passing of Keith MacDonald, surrounded by his family, after a short but courageous fight with cancer. Survived by the love of his life Barbara, children Cathy Bentley (Ross), Susie Murdoch (Stuart), Julie Davidson (Grant), David MacDonald (Heather), 11 grandchildren, and brothers Ross and John A MacDonald. After graduating from UWO Medical School in 1960, Keith started his family practice in Streetsville in 1963, spanning 29 years. He served 2 terms as President of Medical Staff for the Mississauga Hospital and 4 years on the Board of Governors. Keith was on the initial Steering Committee of the Credit Valley Hospital and a key leader from its concept to completion. He was founding Chief of Medical Staff and Vice President of Medical Affairs from 1983 -1991. Keith was very proud of the hospital and the community he served. In 1989 Keith received the Brydon Award from the OMA for outstanding service in the field of Medicine. Keith was a Charter Member and Past Chairman of Cheshire Home, a Charter member of Erinoak, and advocated for Hospice of Peel. Keith received the Paul Harris Award in 1992 for outstanding contribution to his community. Keith MacDonald left this world a better place because of his dedication to his patients, his community but mostly to his family. He led by example and held his values high, always challenging us to do the same. Sitting on Bruce Beach watching the sunset surrounded by family he'd look around and say "I 've got the world in the palm of my hand" Please consider donating to Trillium Health Partners Foundation, to support The Credit Valley Hospital, or Wellspring London. A service will be held when restrictions allow. www.HarrisFuneralHome.ca

I was sad to learn of Keith’s death. His mother, Kay and my mother Mary mother were first cousins. Keith was two years ahead of me in Medical School at Western. I went to Montreal to do Pediatrics and then moved to Halifax to pracice so we lost touch. I remember Keith as a very good athlete. I have fond memories of Keith at our family gatherings as a young boy .
My sincere sympathy,

Although I haven't seen Dr. MacDonald for many years, I always remember him with fondness. He was kind and thoughtful with his patients and a good friend to our family. Working in the hospital field for the past 30 years, I often use Dr. MacDonald as a high standard for excellence and compassion. He truly made this world a better place.

Awe. My heart fills with so many things when I hear this news. Sadness of course, and yet happiness because Keith was such a nice man. It feels like he has been in my life forever as I spent many a year in close friendship with Cathy and Susie. Barb, I always thought that you were the luckiest lady in the world to have a decent man as the father to your children and husband to yourself. You two were the constant that I often needed when it came to stability in my life. I am truly sorry for your loss but I know that he lived a very healthy and rewarding life and that we as a community were so enriched by his presence and his work. This world is such a better place because of him. Sending huge hugs to all of you. Thank you for letting me share a little piece of your lives in our magical town of Streetsville.
