WAKEFIELD, Major Keith Frank
On August 19th, 1999, Major Keith Frank Wakefield of Edmonton, Alberta passed away after a lengthy illness at the age of 81 years. He will be dearly missed by his family who loved him very much. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jean (nee Donald), his son Kim, daughter-in-law Miyako Okubo, grandson Nicholas and granddaughter Mariko, all of Edmonton; sisters, Joyce Stokes and Joan Balderston of Melbourne, Australia and Lorna Midgley of Sydney, Australia and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Australia. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Ian. Keith Wakefield was born in Melbourne in 1918. He served with the Australian Armed Forces in North Africa and the Middle East during WW II before being posted to Washington, D.C. where he met his future wife who was stationed there as a Captain in the Canadian Women's Army Corps. He was a tireless organizer and participant for many charitable and community organizations. Sincere thanks to the fine medical staff of Unit 5 E.3 of the University of Alberta Hospital. A Memorial Service will take place at Robertson-Wesley United Church, 10202-123rd Street Edmonton on Thursday, August 26th, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends who so wish may make memorial donations directly to the Salvation Army, Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Lung Association.
