Kevin DEVINE Obituary

KEVIN ROBERT DEVINE March 24, 1971 - September 11, 2023 It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Kevin Robert Devine at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. Kevin will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Terry and Carol Ann; and his only brother, Michael (Adrienne). He is survived by his wife, Marcie Wong; and his beautiful daughters, Reghan and Layla. Kevin was born and raised in Toronto, and served as a longtime employee of BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. as an investment adviser with the Charlton Group. He had a great love of sports throughout his life, competing in hockey for York Mills and North Toronto, and battling on the tennis courts at the Toronto Cricket & Skating Club and for his high school, Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute. So extraordinary was his nature and magnetic personality that he formed a great many close and lasting friendships. Kevin was always there with sage advice, a perfectly timed joke, and a helping hand whenever needed. Throughout Kevin's resilient and courageous battle with cancer, he never lost his sense of humour and remained attentive to his friends and family. Though his life ended far too soon, those that were lucky enough to know Kevin were the better for it. The family seeks privacy during this difficult time, but will host a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Amici Children's Camp Charity.

Kevin was a rare kind of person, whose charisma was only exceeded by his kindness. While I didn't know him as well as others, every time I did see him I always noted that he exuded a deep love for life. He seemed to be the kind of person who appreciated every little moment, and as a result he probably lived more in his 52 years than most people could in several lifetimes. He was a bright light who deeply impacted the lives of others, as the crowd at his memorial so vividly illustrated. My deepest condolences.

The house on Joicey was the centre of our childhood. Growing up around the corner from the Devines meant road hockey, weekend sleepovers, impromptu meals, and neighbourhood fun. Kevin´s (and Mike´s) inclusive and good nature made it easy to be with them, and Kevin´s athletic talent and sense of fun kept us playing, laughing and connecting in our younger days and over the years. What a force: he will be so missed and never forgotten. Special thanks and sincere condolences to the Devines for creating such a kind and magical space for all of us. Kevin is a testament to that. Sincerely, John Reeves and the Reeves family

My deepest condolences to the family during this very sad time. He was taken far too soon and will be deeply missed. Kevin lit up a room with his smile, that twinkle in his eyes, and his incredible love of all things fun and funny. The party didn't start until Kevin arrived. He was a best friend to so many which is a testament to his kindness and good heart. Rest in peace my friend, thanks for the memories.

Kevin always had a way of providing words of wisdom when needed, was always good for a laugh and discussion about our long suffering Maple Leafs fandom. I'll have fond memories of playing a season on the branch's baseball team with him. He will be missed.
