KIRK HENDERSON Obituary
In Loving Memory It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kirk Henderson, a devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather, and dear friend, known for his integrity, values, and dedication to others. Kirk passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 14, 1944, in Port Alberni, BC, Kirk's journey began in a logging camp, working alongside his father and nurturing a love for wood. His natural leadership emerged early, leading him from Class President at Killarney High School to a Chartered Accountant career at Coopers & Lybrand after putting himself through the University of British Columbia. Kirk met his wife, Sherry, in 1967, and they shared a lifelong love that began with a honeymoon at Whatcom Lake - a retreat that became the family's cherished sanctuary. Kirk's career took him from Sauder Industries to an impactful role with The Jim Pattison Group, followed by a significant tenure on the Walker Industries and the UCS Forest Group Boards. His guidance enriched many, and his dedication resonated deeply with colleagues, family, and friends alike. A Seahawks fan, family man, and friend to his "Good Enuf Guys," Kirk was always the rock for his loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Sherry; his four daughters, Michelle, Jeanette, Nicole, and Chantelle; honorary daughter, Bonnie; six beloved grandchildren, Tayler, Jayda, Brayden, Chayse, Bryce and Jordana; and sons-in-law, Darren, Nektar, Lino, Drew, Scotty and Rick, each of whom he held close. Recently, he stood as a source of strength for daughter, Nicole, after her husband, Cst. Rick O'Brien, was killed in the line of duty. A celebration of Kirk's life will be held on November 19th at 11 a.m. at Westside Church, 777 Homer St., Vancouver, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's Hospital Foundation that was close to his heart. May Kirk rest in peace, his legacy of love and resilience forever in our hearts.
