Laura KINSMAN Obituary

LAURA DIANE KINSMAN (1938-2022) Diane, 84, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2022, at Michael Garron Hospital in east Toronto. Diane was born on January 30, 1938, in Toronto, to Laura Marie Litt and William Henry Kinsman, their youngest child and only daughter. She graduated from Victoria College, University of Toronto, in 1959, with a Bachelor of Arts. Her ancestors were United Empire Loyalists who founded Vankleek Hill, Ontario. Diane was influenced early on by her great-aunt's love for Canadian art. In 1975, while living in Montreal, Diane co-founded a quarterly newsletter, The Canadian Art Investors Guide, and she worked at Micromedia and the McGill School of Library Science. With her then husband, Don Robinson, in 1980, they opened Kinsman Robinson Galleries in Toronto, specializing in Contemporary Indigenous and Canadian paintings and sculpture for over 40 years. Diane was passionate about singing and dancing. She frequented the opera, theatre and ballet. Diane cherished her time spent at her cottage overlooking Georgian Bay. Diane was predeceased by her brothers, Jack (Dorothy), Kenneth (Joan) and George (Eileen) Kinsman. Diane is survived by her three children, Stephen Robinson (Pam), Paul Robinson (Lucia) and Jennifer Brooks (Tony). She is lovingly remembered by her two grandchildren, Thomas Donald Howard and Samantha Kate Grzetic Robinson; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Canada.

I will miss my Aunt Diane, but her voice and wit, her family, combined with her interest in Canadian art makes for me a life well lived.
