Laura WALLACE Obituary

LAURA MARY WALLACE June 28, 1952 March 4, 2022 The first of four children, Laura was born in a small village of Atikokan, Ontario on the north shore of Lake Superior. At the age of four, her family moved back to Toronto and settled in the beach area where her father, grandfather and great- grandfather were born. Like her father and grandfather, she attended Malvern Collegiate and obtained a scholarship to the University of Toronto. After graduating, she went to the Chicago School Business where she received an MBA. Laura had a successful career and worked in a number of companies in the financial sector of Toronto and became a Vice President at Scotiabank. Laura was the kind of person everyone wants their child to become. She was smart and successful but, more importantly, she was truly egalitarian. Regardless of race, creed or colour, pauper or prince, she treated everyone with kindness and compassion, warmth and generosity and always with deep respect. Not surprisingly, she was well liked by colleagues and clients and deeply loved by her friends and family. Though she was a successful businesswoman, she loved getting her hands dirty in her beautiful garden and found her most joy hosting family and friends at her beautiful home over dinners that ranged from simple barbeques to elegant dinner parties for 16 to 20 people. Laura will be deeply missed by so many people, colleagues, friends and family. She leaves behind her younger siblings Erin, Tony and Sean and her daughters and sons in law Rachel Beckerman and Charlie Davis, and Sarah and Marc Morgenthau. Laura was also blessed with three beautiful grandsons, Rachel's son Teddy and Sarah's sons Matthew and Noah who brought her so much joy in her later years. They will miss deeply her stories and games, her love and her hugs. Please celebrate the life of love and joy Laura brought to the world.
