So sorry to lose another cousin. My fondest memories of Leesa are always having her nose in a book when we were growing up. She was such a smart and likeable person. She was so sweet to come by to visit Mom when she was staying with us briefly and Mom enjoyed her visit. My thoughts go out to the entire family right now. Leesa was taken much too soon.

Leesa was a caring, creative, and inspiring teacher. She taught me lessons in the 1980's that I remember today. I am sad that she is gone and send my deep condolences to her family.

I was very saddened to read of the passing of my former Victoria College classmate - but friend forever - Leesa Blake. Though we had reconnected just before I moved to England in the '80s and had, over the years of my expatriation in Hong Kong and Australia, remained in touch, for me, Leesa will always evoke Vic; and my fond memories of it - as a place and a time - are often tied up with her, whether it be debating the relative merits of the classical dramatists over coffee with her in Wymilwood or endlessly replaying - and singing along as a duet - to the soundtrack to The Rocky Horror Picture Show in my room at Nelles House. I feel like a light has gone out, and the world is certainly a lesser place without Leesa and her high spirits, intellectual curiosity and absolutely infectious laugh. My sincerest condolences to her life partner, Ian, her daughter, Glynis, and her extended family.

Leesa and I were on STAO's (Science Teachers' Association of Ontario) Executive Committee several years ago. My recollection of Leesa was her ability to cut to the chase and her huge love of science. Her smile was infectious. May your memories keep you strong.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Leesa's passing. I worked closely with Leesa when she authored educational resources and acted as a Biology Consultant for McGraw-Hill Ryerson. I enjoyed helping her prep for STAO workshops, which were always well attended by eager young teachers. Leesa was so committed to her students and to the health of the planet! I extend my heartfelt condolences to Leesa's family and friends at this time of great sorrow and loss. She will be fondly remembered by many in the educational publishing community and her contributions to education and science publishing will endure....

Leesa and I were on Upper Annesley together at Vic, then both heavily involved with STAO. She was the first person I knew with a SMART Car. We shared many laughs over the years. Sorry to hear of her passing at such a young age. My condolences to Ian, Glynis, and extended family.

I was only a child when I knew Leesa, but she left such a lasting impression. She was always so kind and made sure we had a fun time no matter what we got up to in our 10-year-old shenanigans. My heart goes out to my friend Glynis and her family during this time. Sending lots of love.

Leesa was a fun, smart lady. I knew her best in the days when we were students at Victoria College at University of Toronto. Leesa had her own sense of convention, not necessarily mainstream, but not disrespectful. She faced her own cancer diagnosis with a dignity and acceptance I've seldom seen. She told me that a "woe is me" attitude would solve nothing. I find it an incredible coincidence that she died on the anniversary of David Bowie's death, for he had few more fervent fans in my estimation. We shall not know Leesa's like again soon! We who knew her are richer for having known her, poorer for having lost her so soon.
