Leo Anthony Marquardt, in his 82nd year passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 8, 2026. Leo is survived by his three children, Rob (Patti), Bill (Pia) and Anne (Mark) and his seven grandchildren, Jack, Katie, Emma, Lena, Anja, Hannah and Hudson. Leo was many things to many people, father, grandfather, advisor, spiritual counsellor, good listener and, probably most notably, storyteller often adding his own embellishments to captivate and amuse the listener. His mischievous spirit and quick wit will be missed by all. His favourite place in the world was his home in Denbigh, a home built with his own hands and the blood, sweat and tears of many family and friends, with his determination and get things done attitude often on display. The family would like to thank all the wonderful support staff that looked after Leo in these last few years. As we remember Leo we celebrate a man who rowed his own boat, and a life full of love and laughter. Memorial Mass to be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, 1p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Peter-in Chains, 411 Reid St., Peterborough, Ontario, reception to follow at Knights of Columbus Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at
