Leo ROTHMAN Obituary

LEO ROTHMAN Died on June 20, 2023 at Forest Hill Place. Beloved husband of 71 years to the late Joyce Rothman; brother of the late Shirley and Nicky Katz; brother of Eleanor and Norman Merlin; brother-in-law of Howard and Sandra Sterling and the late Irving and Myrna Sterling. Father of Elissa Weiss, Doreen Saskin (Alan) and Dr. Steven Rothman (Diane). Grandfather of Shonna Berlin (Nachman), Eric Grynspan, Evan Saskin (Cameron), Andrew Saskin (Sarah), Jyll Saskin Gales (Phillip), Adam Rothman and Julia Rothman. Great-grandfather of David, Bennie, Beckett, Emmeline, Jasper, Audrey, Natalie, Nora and Leo. Leo was a passionate piano player, singer and dancer (and dessert eater). He and Joyce would light up the dance floor at every occasion. He became known as the 'piano man' at Forest Hill Place, joyfully taking requests from residents. He brought smiles, jokes, laughter and warmth to every room he entered. Leo celebrated his 95th birthday last month surrounded by three generations of family. He will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 22, 11:00 a.m. at Pardes Chaim Cemetery, 11818 Bathurst Street, north of Elgin Mills Road on the west side. Donations may be made to Jewish Music Week in honour of Leo Rothman.

Dear Steven and Family

Saddened to learn of your loss
of your father Leo who seems to have
enjoyed his last days and shared his enthusiasm for life with all around him .

Not that it will make his loss less poignant but
your memories will be those of a person who
“ Lived” life and did not merely pass through
leaving no trace .

It’s certain that you were as important to his
“ essence “ as he was to yours and will be
for all of your days .

God bless All.

Sincerely
Sheldon
