LEONARD CULLEN Obituary



LEONARD CHARLES CULLEN FEBRUARY 5, 1925 ­ AUGUST 15, 2006 Quietly, in the early morning, Len passed away after a brave fight against pancreatic cancer. He will be remembered as a Gardener, Friend, Dreamer of great things, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, dedicated Christian and Family Man. His creativity, fairness, generosity, Christian values, optimism and sense of humour were appreciated by all. Len married Connie Adams and enjoyed sharing a loving 59 year partnership, raising 5 children and actively participating in the life of Agincourt Baptist Church. Connie supported Len in his entrepreneurial endeavors including the purchase of John A. Weall Landscaping [Aug. 1947], the opening of 7 Weall and Cullen Garden Centres, a nursery farm [1955], Greendale Garden Products [1974], the realization of his lifelong dream at Cullen Gardens and Miniature Village in Whitby [1980], Cullen Country Barns [1983] and many other enterprises. Len supported the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec through his donation of land for the Baptist Leadership Education Centre. He was an enthusiastic supporter of Christian camping and various other Baptist endeavours and missions in Canada and around the globe. He leaves his wife Connie, five children Sue Green and husband Bryan, Peter and wife Gwen, Mark and wife Mary, Nora and husband Randy Park and Tom and wife Janet. He also leaves grandchildren ­ Joy, Bob, Sean, Trevor, Lynn, Heather, Emma, Ben, John, Mark and Nora; and great grandchildren Jayne, Carter and Abby. Missed by his siblings Lawrence and wife Charlotte Cullen, Kay Docherty, Nora Taylor, Ken [deceased] and wife Bessie Cullen. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Vu and the palliative care team for their professional and caring support and all of the wonder ful personal support workers who have assisted in his care. Visitation will be held at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. E., Scarborough (east of Kennedy Rd.) on Friday August 18th from 2 ­ 4 and 7 9 p.m. Funeral Ser vice at Agincourt Baptist Church, 37 Glen Watford Dr., Scarborough (north of Sheppard Ave. E.) on Saturday August 19th at 11 o'clock. Private family interment at Groveside Cemetery, Whitby. Memorial donations to Agincourt Baptist Church ­ Connie Cullen Youth Centre program would be appreciated.
