LILLIAN FRANCES DAWSON (nee Haine) August 11, 1923 - November 17, 2023 Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, leaving a legacy of warmth and cherished memories. Beloved wife of the late John Alfred Dawson (Alfie), loving mother of Colleen and Mish, Deirdre and Mark, Leelah and Rhordon, and John and Lynn; and adored grandmother to Shingi and Zoey, Temba and Chrisantha, Teagan, Adrian, Declan, Rebecca and Alison. Her deep devotion to her family was her most abiding characteristic shaping her rich and long life. Daughter of Elizabeth and Percy Haine, she grew up in Niagara Falls, Ontario. She met her beloved Alfie on a holiday to Northern Ireland (1947), married there in 1951 and returned to Canada in 1952 residing in Scarborough, Waterdown, Ottawa, London (UK), Oakville, Nanaimo and finally Victoria. Following her marriage, Frances was a homemaker extending generous hospitality to numerous friends with her warm smile and wonderful baking. She volunteered for many years with the Girl Guides, and hospices in Oakville and Nanaimo. She was a lover of textiles sewing, weaving and knitting throughout her life.
