LINDEN MACKEY Obituary

Proud owner of Mackey Funeral Home, Stoddart Funeral Home, Jardine Funeral Home, and Mackey Celebrations. It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father and husband, Linden Mackey ("Gumby!"), on Monday, May 5, 2025, in his 59th year. Linden was born in Lindsay in 1966 to Gord (2003) and Kay Mackey (2006). He was the youngest brother of Jim (Janet), the late Gordy (1965), Susan (Gerry), and Linda. Linden attended Parkview Public School and L.C.V.I. He went on to study in Funeral Service Education at Humber College, then joined the family firm with brother, Jim, and their father, Gord, to carry on the legacy created by grandfather, James, and his sons, Linden, Gordon, and James. Lindy married Stephanie in 1997. They had four children: Sophia, Thomas, Joseph, and Natasha, who he was immensely proud of right until the very end. He will be immeasurably missed by them today and in every memory, we wish he could have shared. The unbelievable outpouring of grief, respect, and acknowledgment by the community has only served to underline how very loved Linden was. Linden gave his utmost to serve the families he took into his care. He treated everyone with kindness and humility, and now it seems fitting that his family, friends and community are reciprocating. The family will welcome visitors to the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay, on Monday, May 12th, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m., and Tuesday, May 13th, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Mackey Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay, on Wednesday, May 14th, at 11:00 a.m., with a private interment for family and close friends to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes, or to Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation, which would be appreciated by the family. "Life is sweet just because of the friends we have made and the things which in common we share; We want to live on not because of ourselves, but because of the people who care; It's giving and doing for someone else-on that all life's splendor depends, And the joy of this world, when you've summed it all up, is found in the making of friends."

I am so sorry for this tragic loss. Lindy looked after our family during our several losses with so much care and compassion. My heart goes out to all his family in this unimaginably sad time. The whole community mourns with you, with breaking hearts. Rest in peace, Lindy.
