Lisa CALLAGHAN Obituary

LISA CATHERINE CALLAGHAN January 25, 1990 - February 7, 2021 It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of Lisa Catherine Callaghan as the result of an accident. Cherished daughter of Beverley and Frank. Much loved sister of Sarah (Christopher Skubel) and Maggie. Loving aunt to Jack Charles. Predeceased by her grandparents Gretta and Charlie Witt and Mollie and Frank Callaghan. Dearly loved niece of Brian Callaghan (Diana), the late Mark Callaghan (Catherine), John (Seanna) and Russell Witt. Dear cousin to Caelin, Mary, Christopher, Ryan, Molly, Charlie and Harry. Lisa attended high school at St. Clement's School. She graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Business Management before receiving her diploma in Special Event Management from George Brown College. Lisa was always passionate about doing meaningful work and helping others which led her to begin her career in event management at the Princess Margaret Foundation followed by two years with the Toronto General Hospital Foundation. For the past two years, Lisa worked at The Mastercard Foundation where she was part of the event management and communications groups. She travelled extensively through Africa with the Foundation assisting with the Young Africa Works Initiative which aims to enable 30 million young people to access dignified work by 2030. Lisa was a bright and charismatic young woman who lit up every room she was in. She was kind and generous to all who knew her. She loved making people happy and valued the special friendships she had made during her short life. Lisa was scrubbed in sunshine and loved to dance and sing. She had many interests in addition to her work. She enjoyed playing sports, whether tennis, skiing, paddle-boarding or biking. She also enjoyed dance, music, painting and crafts. But her favourite times were spent at summer camp with her friends at Glen Bernard and at the family cottage in Southampton, Ontario with our extended community of family and friends. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Friends who wish, may join virtually. Please see the Humphrey Funeral Home website for details pertaining to the streaming link. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lisa's name to the Hospital for Sick Children's Cardiac Unit at my.sickkidsdonations.com/lisacallaghan. Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com. In the words of William Wordsworth: What though the radiance which was once so bright Be now for ever taken from my sight, Though nothing can bring back the hour Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower; We will grieve not, rather find Strength in what remains behind; Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. It was a pleasure to know Lisa and to share in her joy, passion and enthusiasm. She was always an inspiration to be around in the way that she loved her family, had an infectious energy for life and was driven in the most admirable career goals.

Heartbroken is the only way to sum up how to feel, the world has lost such a ray of light!
Lisa was and will forever be in my mind such a positive, joyful and carefree person. I spent summers with her at GBC that have resulted in my fondest memories. Sincere condolences Callaghan Family.
She will forever be in my thoughts & prayers ... especially when "under open skies" XOXO

In loving memory of a wonderful person. Lisa graduated with honours from the Special Event Management program at George Brown College. As one of her professors, I remember her enthusiasm, smile and kindness towards her classmates. My heart goes out to your Family. Your spirit will remain in my memory.

A truly tragic loss of "young" Frank's beautiful daughter, from a long-ago next door neighbour on that wonderful beach at Southampton.

My prayers and thoughts go out to the entire Callaghan family. Watching Lisa grow from the smallest little bundle in Bevs arms to a beautiful, intelligent, caring, young woman. How to speak a thousand words when you are speechless. Thinking of the whole family during this difficult time.
