Lloy COUTTS Obituary



LLOY COUTTS Lloy Coutts, who died June 23rd, sur rounded by family and friends, after a long battle with a degenerative illness. Born in Alberta in April of 1941, she was a teacher, coach and director. Accepted to the premier class (1963) of the National Theater School, Lloy went on to finish her studies at New York University. She was a founding member of the Playhouse Acting School, established by late Powys Thomas at the Vancouver Playhouse. Lloy worked at the Stratford Festival from 1970-81 as the voice coach and later returned to assistant direct Julius Caesar (1990) and Much Ado (1991). In later years, she studied dramaturgy and directed plays at the University of Waterloo, York University, Tarragon Theatre, Theatre Orangeville, and Citadel Theatre among others. Highlights include her production of 'The Double Bass' starring Eric Peterson and 'Saliva Milkshake' starring Nicky Guadagni. Lloy was considered one of the premier voice coaches in Canada for many decades, but will be most remembered by her friends for her incredible travels around the world, her ability to teach, and for her terrific dinner parties. Lloy is survived by her son Julian Coutts and 3 siblings. There will be a memorial for her beginning of August. Please contact the family for details. [email protected]

I actually don't know Lloy Courts. I'm only aware of her since Jeffrey Jones is my favorite actor.
Sad to hear about her passing in 2008.
