(née Manby) (August 8, 1927 – September 21, 2025) Our amazing Mom's life ended at age 98, peacefully and surrounded by her four children, at Michael Garron Hospital – where for many years, she volunteered with the Women's Auxiliary (when it was known as the "East General"). Following a catastrophic brain hemorrhage, she quickly went into a coma and died within hours, free of pain or suffering. The care she received that day from Chester Village and the hospital was superb. Mom was the youngest of two daughters of Aaron "Bud" Woodroffe Manby of Niagara Falls, and Edith Anne Cinnamon of Lindsay. She and her sister Phyllis grew up in North Toronto, and she worked briefly for Bell Canada after graduating with a B.A. from University of Toronto at the age of 19. A proud "Alpha Gam," she happily married her campus sweetheart, Dr. Jim Davies (deceased December 21, 2004), and they began wedded life in Espanola, Ontario, before returning to Toronto's east end for the rest of their lives. Mom is survived by sons, Dr. Bill (Susan), Tom (Antoinette), and Bob (Anne); and daughter, Cathy (Kevin); beloved grandchildren, Jeff, Tyler, Mallorie, Matt, Rupert (Anna), Duncan, Graham, Dylan (Rachel) and Taylor; and treasured great-grandchildren, Jemma and Firn. She outlived and missed many close friends and she loved her social life with many others at the Gates of Guildwood, who always kept an eye out for her. Although Mom "didn't want to make a fuss," a Celebration of Life has been scheduled on the afternoon of November 6th (1:00 – 4:00), at Scarboro Golf & Country Club (321 Scarborough Golf Club Road). Light refreshments will be served at that time. Although not necessary, anyone wishing to donate in her memory is kindly requested to consider Michael Garron Hospital (where Dad delivered more than 1,000 babies) or Chester Village (which made her last month's so comfortable).
