LOIS ROWLAND Obituary

April 18, 1924 - June 6, 2025

Lois (nee Harrison) passed away peacefully, at the age of 101. Loving wife of Robert Jamieson (1999). Devoted mother of Robert (Nancy) and Susan. Cherished grandmother of Matthew and Tyler Rowland, and Susan's children, Daisy and Hayden.

Lois lived a full life. She cherished the years she spent working at Maclean Hunter. When her children were born, she stopped working but never slowed down. Lois travelled, volunteered, was an active member of the Toronto Garden Club, and contributed her time to many aspects of Eglington St. George's United Church especially as a long-standing member of Unit 12. Lois had a special bond with family, friends, many dogs, and her extended family at SageCare. She will be remembered for her generosity, wit and fierce independence. Special thanks to Dr. Jocelyn Charles for her amazing care, and to Bruce Houser for his years of friendship and support to Lois and the family. Funeral service will be held at Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Avenue West (at Lascelles Boulevard), at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10th. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Sunnybrook Foundation are appreciated.

I had the privilege of caring for Lois over the past three years at SageCare. She was incredibly special to me - smart, effortlessly funny, and full of heart. She had a strong will and a presence that made you feel lucky just to be around her. Lois always found a way to show her appreciation for the care we provided. It was an honour to be her nurse, and I´ll always remember her.

My heartfelt condolences to her family.

For three beautiful years, I had the absolute honor of caring for Lois - a time filled with meaningful moments and a bond I will forever cherish.

Lois became more than just someone I cared for, she became my family. I will miss her wit that never failed to brighten my days, her kindness that softened even the hardest moments, and the gentle love she so effortlessly gave.

Sending my heartfelt condolences to the Rowland family. May you find comfort & strength during this difficult time.

Over the past two years, I had the honor of caring for Lois, and she held a very special place in my heart. She was so incredibly sweet, yet fierce in the most beautiful way. Her strength, wit, and spark stayed with her through everything, and being around her was truly a gift.

I will carry her memory with me always. Please accept my deepest condolences.

We had the pleasure of visiting Lois many times at Sagecare with our two yorkshire terriers. We would put Gabriella or Gracie on her lap and she would just sit and pet them with a smile on her face. It was very clear she loved dogs. Rest in peace Lois.

My deepest condolences to the entire family and all those who loved Lois. I have so many fond memories of Lois, her sense of humour, her determination, her honesty and her loyalty to those who were close. She treated me with kindness and respect and I will miss her sarcasm/dry wit which always seemed more defined and she could deliver with more style than someone half her age. She was an original.
