LOUIS (LOU) ERNEST PROBST IV August 21, 1938 - October 24, 2022 Lou passed peacefully in his sleep at home. He was originally born in San Francisco and then moved to Toronto where he attended Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute, the University of Toronto (Engineering), and York University (MBA). In high school, he was a star basketball and football player which he continued at the University of Toronto. Later in life, he became a dedicated jogger, running every morning for 5-6 miles with up to four dogs before leaving for work. On the weekends, he participated in countless 10K runs when he was often joined by his daughter Chris. During football season, Lou loved to ride his motorcycle to watch the Toronto Argonauts bringing along any family member he could persuade to accompany him. After retirement, Lou and his wife, Judy, left Toronto to live at their farm in Kirkfield, Ontario. As committed environmentalists, Lou and Judy were focused on the conservation of the ecologically rare alvar of the Carden Plain and their defense of endangered species. They received awards for their contributions. Lou was instrumental in getting road signs put up to protect turtles along with many other accomplishments including the protection of thousands of acres of the Carden Plain. Lou and Judy were dedicated partners and world travelers, visiting all seven continents together. Lou was a quiet, kind, generous, and thoughtful man of strong character and completely devoted to supporting his family. He is remembered lovingly by his children, Louis (Katherine), Steven (Jennifer), Nicholas (Yvonne), Christine (Andrew); eight grandchildren; and his wife, Judy. Lou said the job he was most proud of was "Raising a family of four self-sufficient productive adults." Lou described his 60-year marriage as "The best decision of my life. We have weathered many ups and downs in support of each other. I could not have done it without her." Donations may be made to
