On behalf of my whole family our deepest condolences. Lu was always the first person I looked for when I got to camp. A remarkable women whose smile was worth waiting for. My love of flashy, colourful and on point earrings had to have come from her influence. We will miss her.

We were indeed saddened to learn of Lu's death. Although we attended boy's camp and Red Pine in the 40s and 50s, we did not return until 1978 when our son, Dave, was on staff. When we went to see him, he said there is someone you have to meet after morning dip at cabin two. Since then we went almost every year and have so many fond memories of Tom and Lu at sports, camper shows and sing songs. Always generous and spirited, they were stellar campers that have been missed and will be remembered for a very long time. With sincerest sympathies to the family, Bill and Dora Broughton.

It is with great sorrow, but softened by fond memories of her warmth and sense of humour, that we extend our sincere condolences to your family on the death of Lu. Hers was a life truly to be remembered as one dedicated to the welfare of her family and all the other persons whose lives were enriched by her kindness and wisdom.

My wife Eileen, daughters Lesley, Hilary and Amanda, and my son Andrew all benefited from her friendship and advice, as did I.

We were also fortunate to enjoy convivial meals with Tom and Lu on numerous occasions.

Mrs O was a fabulous woman, and she played a really important role in my personal development. When I was at BHS (class of '82) she encouraged me to do an exchange programme for a month, and I spent my time in a small farming community in Saskatchewan. The experience of going somewhere new, on my own, and making my way was something that has stayed with me throughout my life - and enabled me to live and travel in many faraway places. We kept in regular touch - I visited her and Tom in their house in Beaconsfield when I was visiting, and had lunch with them in their Baie d'Urfe residence a few years ago. I loved her eye-popping earrings, her crafty skills, but most of all, her warmth and smile. We will miss you, but our lives were richer from knowing you.

I am so sad to hear of Lu's passing. While I have very fond memories of her from my Beaconsfield High School days and as my good friend Jan's mom, I have been so fortunate to have her re-enter my life the past 4 years. She and Tom were residents of the Maxwell when my folks moved in, and it was always wonderful to see her when I would go for a visit. Always a hug, always curious for news, and always dressed in bright colours! I will miss her. My sincere condolences to all the family.

To Mike and siblings and family, our sincere condolences. Your mom and dad were larger than life to that little kid from Ottawa.
I was so happy that my son Stephen, was able to get to know Lou & Tom the way I did at Red Pine. I have never known such a lovely couple, both on and off the court!
Sincerely, Steve & Debbie Blais

Lu had a deep impact on generations of RPC'ers, mine included. She modelled kindness, light, humour, generosity and authenticity, seemingly naturally. I've met few people in my life able to make everyone around them feel so welcome. What a gifted woman. Vale Lu, Rest In Peace.

Well I remember morning coffee by Lu. My mother, Bliss, stayed nearby and brought me along to this gathering. Campers chattered in a friendly circle of plastic chairs near the tall, whispering, red pines. By that time, I guess there was electricity in the cabins in the grove for the coffee was hot enough. Lu exuded the friendliness to all value that I recall. Just a camper at Red Pine since 1946, Jan Pugsley

Psalm 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years.
May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.
