LYLE MORREY Obituary

January 7, 1940 – November 7, 2024 Lyle passed away with his loving family by his side on November 7, 2024. Lyle was born in Vancouver on January 7, 1940, the younger twin (by five minutes) of brother, Gary, to Syd and Doris Morrey. He was predeceased by his wife, Sally; son, David; and sister, Barbara. Left with so much love in their hearts for this amazing man are his wife, Jennene; sons, Steve (Dawn) and Rick (Eda); stepson, Scott (Amy); and brother, Gary (Judy). Lyle will be so very missed by his grandchildren, Elisha, Sarah (Tony), Michael, Sloane and Camdyn; and by his many nephews and nieces. Lyle was a beloved businessman and pillar of the Vancouver automotive community. Together with his brother, Gary, they grew the Morrey Auto Group into a thriving enterprise that now spans four car brands and a body shop, earning a stellar reputation over the decades. Gary and Lyle had lunch together almost every day and would catch up on work and family. Baci's won't be the same without Lyle at the table for lunch. Lyle sat on Dealer Advisory Boards for Nissan, General Motors (Saturn) and Mazda. He was also the original President of the Northshore Auto Mall. Lyle's leadership earned him numerous Dealer of Distinction and Excellence awards throughout his career, solidifying his place as one of the most respected figures in the industry. Lyle was a devoted family man and friend, whose kindness, sense of humour and dance moves (ah Boom, Boom, Boom) left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Lyle loved spending summers at Cultus Lake with his young family. He later spent many winters in Maui. Lyle relished his retirement years. That's when he fell in love with winters in The Desert, where he and Jennene met many lifelong friends. He always enjoyed a round of golf. Whether it was with friends and family at Seymour or at Indian Ridge, where he could be found driving his beloved "Shelby" golf cart to the course or to his favourite breakfast spot, JK's. There were many days spent riding his Harley, visiting remote places in the desert and always finding the best hole-in-the-wall biker cafes for a lunch stop. Lyle enjoyed adventure and travel, he and Jennene travelled the world experiencing many different cultures. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and the many lives he touched over the years. The family would like to thank the staff at Amica Lions Gate for their kind and compassionate care during Lyle's stay there. Particular thanks to Jas and Gaurav for their devotion to Lyle's care. There will be a celebration of Life at Seymour Golf and Country Club at 1 p.m. on January 31, 2025.
