Lynn Storrey Obituary

LYNN STORREY June 29, 1950 - June 3, 2021 Our Angel has left us. Lynn died at home as she wanted surrounded by loved ones. Best friend and wife of Richard for nearly 50 years. Best friend and mother to Barbara. Great friend and sister to Jeri (Les) and Joni (Greg). Great friend and sister-in-law to Bonnie (Neil). Predeceased by her father Larry and mother Nanette. Lynn will be dearly missed by legions of other relatives. Lynn was an elementary school teacher for over 40 years with Etobicoke Board of Education. All the parents wanted their kids to be in Mrs. Storrey's class, whatever grade she taught. She inspired many of her pupils to become teachers themselves and a few even joined her on her own staff. Lynn was whip-smart, loyal, funny and at times irreverent. Most of all she was a kind, decent person who made everyone feel like they were her best friend. She will be hugely missed by a loyal group of friends too numerous to mention by name. A celebration of Lynn's life will be held later when circumstances permit. Special thanks to the doctors and staff at Princess Margaret Gynecology Oncology Clinic and to the Tammy Latner Centre for Palliative Care and to all of their wonderful doctors and staff. Heartfelt thanks go to sister Joni without whom this difficult journey could never have been traversed. If desired, donations can be made to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.

Lynn taught me in the late ‘80’s and when my kids attended HVV they had the privilege of having her as a substitute teacher from time to time. She was an amazing teacher and person. Her smile and laugh were infectious. Mrs.Storrey and Mrs.Chyczij were the dynamic duo of the junior part of HVV. My condolences to her family and friends. Such a huge loss.

I am so deeply saddened by the loss of Lynn. I had the privilege of teaching with Lynn for over 20 years. She continually inspired me to be a better teacher. My fondest memories were those when we had the opportunity to team teach together. Lynn made coming to school each day an absolute joy, not just for me, but also for the hundreds of children's lives she touched. Lynn had the gift of being able to put fun into learning. I will always remember Lynn reading the story of Charlotte's Web to her students every year for 20 years and holding back her tears for the 20th time when she reached the part in the story when Charlotte died. Farewell dear friend. You left us far too soon.
