LYNNE STOCKFISH Obituary

1935 – 2025 It is with heartfelt love and sorrow that the family of Lynne Stockfish announce her peaceful passing on August 14, 2025, at the age of 89, surrounded by loved ones at Nipissing Serenity Hospice. Born in Sudbury in 1935 and raised in Cobden, Lynne pursued her education in nursing, beginning a lifelong path of compassion for others. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, George; her daughter-in-law, Dr. Karen Morris; and her parents, Arthur and Madeline MacDonald. Lynne is survived and will be forever cherished by her children, Jayne Stockfish-Irwin (Ray), Michael Stockfish, and Jody Stockfish; her grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah, Alex, Madie, and Jack; and her sisters, Iris Ball, of Pembroke, and Barbara MacDonald, of Kitchener. A devoted wife and mother, Lynne supported George for many years in his business, and together they shared a wonderful 61 years of marriage. As a mother and grandmother, she was closely involved in her family's lives, always present at school functions, sports events, and activities, cheering on her children and grandchildren with pride and love. Beyond family life, Lynne devoted much of her time and energy to serving her community. She was passionate about helping others, and supported Meals on Wheels and Packsac Smiles. Her volunteer work at a hospice in Fort Myers, Florida, where she and George spent many winters, left a lasting impression. That experience inspired them to help bring a similar place of care and comfort to North Bay through their support of Nipissing Serenity Hospice. Lynne also lived with a remarkable sense of adventure and curiosity. She had a lifelong quest for new experiences, whether through travel, canoeing and kayaking, or many memorable hiking and biking adventures. Lynne was a keen bridge player for many years, an avid reader, loved to cook, enjoyed golfing, and at age 60, she proudly completed her first triathlon. She loved to sing, and her home was always filled with music. Lynne will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her adventurous spirit, her dedication to community service, and above all, her enduring love and devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched with tenderness and warmth. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Drs. Trenker, Nelson, Jinnah, and Galbraith for their outstanding care over the years. Special thanks as well to Lori Smith, of Ontario Health at Home, and Tracy Vinkle for their ongoing support and kindness. The family is also profoundly grateful to the incredible staff at Nipissing Serenity Hospice for their remarkable devotion and compassion during Lynne's final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nipissing Serenity Hospice. A private Celebration of Life for Lynne will be held at a later date.
