MALCOLM MARTIN Obituary

December 2, 1949 – April 17, 2025 The family of Malcolm Martin, of West Lake, Prince Edward County and Toronto, share, with much sadness, the news of his passing on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the age of 75, after a short illness. Malcolm was predeceased by his parents, A.J. and Babs Martin. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eleanor Martin; their daughters, Siona Martin and Alison Martin; and their grandchildren, Samantha, Dylan and Isabella (Bella). Malcolm is also survived by his brother, Ashton Martin; sisters, Debbie Martin and Daphne Martin and her husband, John Richardson. Malcolm graduated from the University of Toronto, followed by Queen's University where he attended law school and made many friends. He graduated in 1976. Once called to the Bar, he practiced law as a sole practitioner, at various times in association with other lawyers. At the same time, he led, along with his brother, Ashton, Fermar Paving Group, a company his father had established, and which Malcolm was influential in growing to the size it is today. He continued in that capacity as recently as a few short weeks ago. Malcolm had a larger-than-life presence. He touched the lives of many, forming deep and meaningful relationships that spanned not just years, but decades. His warmth, humour and generosity were felt by his many friends and colleagues, as well as family. He will be deeply missed. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 25th, at 3 p.m. at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W. (east of Jane St.), Toronto, with visitation starting at 2 p.m. The service will be livestreamed, a link available at turnerporter.ca, where online condolences may also be made. Donations in Malcolm's memory can be made to a Charity of Your Choice.

Everything written in the obit could have been written in bold font. Malcolm was a very good friend. We met on the first day of law school in the registration lineup and so began the best of times. Mal and Eleanor could not have been nicer to me. Forever appreciated. Love rick

I am so sorry to hear of Malcom´s passing.
I remember visiting as a boy specifically when I went to our grandparents on sundays and we would often visit Malcom and family.
I remember seeing the family at their cottage in Muskoka and enjoy water skiing and barbecues.
Time is precious and we must make every minute count.
I am so sad to see family and relatives passing on.

David.

I met Malcolm, when me and his daughter, Ali became best friends in grade 1. Ali and I became inseparable and Malcolm and Eleanor quickly became another set of parental units in my life. Some of my greatest childhood memories involve Malcolm, Eleanor and the Martin family.
Malcolm taught me the important life skill of how to play poker. We had countless evenings of dancing on the cottage living room table. He made the best meatloaf and gave the best bedtime story physically rocking us side to side before bed. Our family trip to Costa Rice is one I will always remember. Cooking lobster on the beach and endless laughs and fun.
Malcolm gave the greatest hugs. He always took an interest in anything we were doing in our lives.
Malcolm, was full of life and would light up a room. Nothing ever shocked Malcolm making him an easy person to go to. He never dwelled on the situation but was always there to find a solution.

Like my dad, he called me by my nickname (Snods) even in our last visit together.

Malcolm, loved hard. He wasn´t afraid to be emotional and made sure to tell people how much he cared and loved them.

Malcolm, I am forever grateful to have known you for the last 30 years. You left A great impression on my childhood and continued to be an important person in my life into adulthood.
Thank for your your endless love, kindness and generosity and most of all, thank you for always treating me as one of your own. It truly meant the world to me.
I love you lots and will miss you tons.
