Margaret AIKINS Obituary

MARGARET CHRISTINE AIKINS (née Hilliker) Margaret passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the age of 89. Margaret was the cherished daughter of the late Dr. Arthur and Kathleen Hilliker, the dearly loved wife of the late James O. Aikins, and the beloved sister of John Hilliker. Margaret will be remembered with love and affection by her brother, John and his wife, Barbara; by her nephew, David (and his wife Linda and their daughters Morgan and Lauren); and by her niece, Nancy (and her daughter, Bailey). Margaret's fondest memories are first as a teenage girl working in the summer at her Aunt Marj's Muskoka lodge Nibwakawin, and then later with husband, Jim at their cottage on Lake Mazinaw, spending summer holiday vacations with Jim's daughter, Wade; their grandchildren, Jennifer and Ethan; and their great-granddaughter, Sofia. Margaret wished there was more family time at Mazinaw including also great-grandsons Gabriel and Remo. Margaret enjoyed her careers, first with Air Canada, and then working in the Office of the Premier William Davis. Margaret had a great sense of humour, a positive outlook on life, loved to play bridge, and got great joy when spending time with friends. The family thanks the Management and the Staff of 'The Teddington Retirement Residence' for their compassionate care. A family graveside ceremony will be held in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation would be welcomed to The Canadian Red Cross (www.redcross.ca). Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
