MARGARET BENTHAM Obituary
It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Margaret Bentham on Friday, January 23, 2026, in Mexico City. She was 68 years old. Residing in Montreal, she was the daughter of the late William Bentham and the late Christie Bentham (née Russell). A beloved wife, adored mother, exceptional grandmother, cherished sister, and extraordinary friend, she leaves to mourn her husband, Michel Simard; her children, Geneviève Vachon (Philippe Verreault-Julien), Laurence Vachon (Ameer Ally), Camille Vachon (Noam Bierstone), Mathieu Simard (Geneviève Gaboury), François Simard, and Véronique Simard (Sébastien LaRochelle); her grandchildren, Léopold, Simone, Adrienne, and Zachary; her brothers and sister, Harry, David, John, Ken, and late Claire, as well as many friends. Kind and generous, Margaret was always bringing people together. She was the light of our lives! Deeply compassionate and thoughtful, she touched everyone she met. The family is planning a private ceremony, followed by a reception open to all who wish to pay tribute to Margaret. The reception will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex in Montreal (1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, QC H2V 2P9). Margaret was vibrant and full of life, dare to wear colour! In memory of Margaret, we encourage you to make a donation to the Breakfast Club of Canada.
