MARGARET BOYER Obituary
(née Louden) At age 99, after a life well lived, Margaret "Ann" Boyer has passed away peacefully in Halifax on August 23, 2025. Born in Morrisburg, Ontario, to Dr. Charles and Susie Louden (née Werte), Ann was the beloved sister of the late Dr. Gordon Louden, of Ottawa. She will be deeply missed by her children, James (Carolyn Johnson), Susan, Katherine (Thomas Rand), and Alison (Colin Craig). She was the adored grandmother of Lucas Boyer, Meghan, Adrienne and Ellen Smillie, Amy and Hillary Rand, and Jessie, Hugh, and Robin Short; and the treasured great-grandmother of Oskar and Camillo Smillie, Sam and Lily Harris, Nathan and Madeline Czerwinski, and Jack and Ruby Bleechmore. Ann was a highly accomplished woman. She received her nursing training at Kingston General Hospital, and, after raising her children, returned to school to earn a Master's degree in history. She went on to become the curator of Battlefield House in Stoney Creek, and later worked with Niagara Parks until her retirement. Ann had a lifelong love of travel, tennis, skiing, and golf, and pursued these interests with her indomitable spirit and sense of adventure. She was also a gourmet cook, an animal lover, a voracious reader, and someone whose conversation could lend sparkle to any gathering. Ann will be very fondly remembered as a source of inspiration by everyone in her family and all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held in August 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to ElderDog, Canada Halifax Pawd. "It is better to travel hopefully than arrive"
