MARGARET ESSON Obituary
Margaret Esson passed away peacefully, on March 19, 2025, with her family at her side. Throughout her 91 years she was a dedicated and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Margaret is survived by her loving children, John (Mary Ainslie) and Catharine (David Crosby); and her adored grandson, Will. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, William Esson (Bill); and her parents, Adolf and Katherine Buchele, all of whom she devotedly cared for in their later years. Born and raised in Vancouver, Margaret graduated from John Oliver Secondary School. Youthful trips to Great Britain as a member of the Elgin Choir sparked a lifelong interest in travel, which fit well with post schoolwork for United Airlines. In 1955, Margaret met Bill Esson, who would become her lifelong love and partner. After they married in 1958, Margaret supported Bill's busy career, first as a lawyer and then as a judge, while raising their family. Margaret created a nurturing home in West Vancouver where she was a gracious and welcoming hostess. She believed in self-education and was an avid reader. Margaret was also wonderfully creative with a great sense of fun, taking delight in developing her beautiful garden, music and a wide variety of craft projects. She was never happier than when sharing a laugh with family and friends. Margaret faced her challenging later years with considerable equanimity and courage. The family wish to thank all those who supported Margaret, most recently the wonderful staff at LynnValley Care Center. In line with Margaret's wishes, there will not be a public service. No flowers please, but feel free to share a special moment with a loved one in Margaret's memory.
