Margaret Funnell (nee Blackstock)
December 18, 1930-August 9, 2013
In her 83rd year, in Pointe Claire, Quebec. After planning (from her hospital bed) and attending her Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary Celebration on August 8th, Margaret died early the next morning from complications of long-term diabetes. A still-growing mind in a worn-out body. She leaves behind her devoted husband Owen, her children Barbara (Tim), Patricia, Susan (Paul), Geoffrey, her grandchildren Emma, Fiona and Owen, and her sister Cicely.A graduate of Bishop Strachan School and the University of Toronto (BA Physics 1953) she pursued a lifelong volunteer interest in education and social service, notably Home & School, the Lakeshore School Board, the Community Resource Centre and the Zonta Club of Montreal. Her shining spirit, her compassion, her absolute commitment to change the world one act of kindness at a time, her sense of justice and her principles will guide and inspire those of us whose lives she touched. The family will receive condolences at Rideau Funeral Home 4275 Sources Blvd., DDO, Quebec 514-685-3344, on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the Church of the Resurrection, 99 Mt Pleasant, Pointe Claire, on Thursday August 15, 2013 at 11 a.m, followed by a reception in the church hall. Special thanks to Dr. Serban and the staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, tributes to Margaret's memory could be made to the charity of your choice.
