MacRAE, Margaret Elizabeth (Malcolm)
Peacefully, on Monday, October 10, 2005, in her 90th year. Betty, beloved wife of sixty-six years of Professor Donald Alexander MacRae of Toronto. Dear mother of David and his wife Sheila of Princeton, New Jersey, Charles and his wife Beth of Toronto, and Andrew and his wife Catherine of Whitby, Ontario. Loving grandmother of Duncan and his wife Kristine of Los Angeles, Alistair of New York, Jane in Nagoya, Japan, Anne at Queen's and Laura and Heather of Whitby. Fondly remembered and sadly missed by her nieces, nephews and many friends. Betty was for many years a children's librarian with the Toronto Public Library and was instrumental in establishing libraries in Toronto's public and separate schools. She also lectured on children's literature and materials at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Library Science. Friends may call at the MORLEY BEDFORD FUNERAL HOME, 159 Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto (2 stoplights west of Yonge Street), on Thursday, October 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in EGLINTON ST. GEORGE'S UNITED CHURCH, 35 Lytton Boulevard, Toronto, on Friday, October 14 at 1:30 p.m. A reception will follow in the church. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, donations to Osborne and Lillian H. Smith Trust Fund in Memory of Elizabeth M. MacRAE, 239 College Street, Toronto, ON M5T 1R5, would be appreciated.
