Margaret OCKERSE Obituary
Margaret Jean (Jean) Ockerse
Nee Ferguson
January 21, 1923 - July 3, 2015
Surrounded by her adoring
family, our beautiful, dynamic
mother and grandmother passed
away peacefully, after having
lived with the ravaging effects of
Lewy Body Dementia, for a
number of years. Ever and
always a lady, her generous,
kind and loving heart just
stopped beating.
Born in MacDonald's Corners,
Ontario, to Robert Ferguson and
Christina Harper, Jean leaves her
children, Deborah Ockerse (Les
Deak) and Janet Kwirant (Andy);
and her grandchildren, Nicholas
Deak, and Alexandra Ockerse
(Steve MacDonald).
Her indelible spirit, optimism, joy
and sense of style were an
inspiration to everyone she met,
knew and loved. A rewarding 26
year career at BASF Canada
garnered respect and life-long
friendships. Jean continued
those relationships through her
involvement with the 'Sages',
who met monthly, for over 20
years. Jean's sense of style is
legendary amongst family,
friends and colleagues. She
loved fashion and for 4 years,
ages 87 to 91, Jean was a
'shopgirl' at By Consignment, in
Oakville. Every Friday she
offered advice, and suggestions
and discussed fashion trends
with customers and sister
'shopgirls' alike. Her greatest
achievement and most
important role however, was as
mother and grandmother. She
lived for her family and they
were her life. She loved, was
loved and will be missed.
A celebration of Life will be held
on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, in
Oakville.
