It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Marie Doré (nee Porlier) at the Sunrise of Beaconsfield residence, while sleeping peacefully, on August 4, 2025. For six-plus years, she coped courageously with progressive Parkinson's disease, and for the last four of those years she resided at Sunrise. Marie was born May 31,1940, in Bigwood, Ontario, a place that remained dear to her all her life. Her family moved to Burwash, Ontario, in 1949 where she made many lifelong friends. In 1959, Marie married her childhood friend, Raymond Doré, and went to live in Sudbury, where Marie worked in a bank and started raising a family with their two boys. In 1964, Ray's work took them to Montreal, where Marie would enjoy a rewarding life. In 1972 Ray and Marie separated, but always remained supportive and close. In 1975, Marie graduated from the John Abbott College Nursing Faculty. She enjoyed a long and rewarding career working at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the Surgery Department. Marie's loving siblings are Dolores (Ted), Virginia (Peter), Bernard (Janet) and Denise (Al), who preceded her in death. Marie is survived by her two sons, Steven (Adriana), and Glenn (Ann Marie); and granddaughter, Stephanie (Antoine). She will be fondly remembered by her step-grandchildren, Christine, Danielle and Nicole, as well as their children, Carlee, Emma, Oliver, and Derek. Marie had always kept close contact with her nieces and nephews who were very dear to her, Virginia, Natasha, Paul, Simone, Cara, and Stephen. Marie loved to hear the latest news about her grandnieces and grandnephews, Lachlan, Michaela, Chloe, Hailey, Nolan, Rory, Owen, and Ryan Elizabeth. Marie is also fondly remembered by Norma, Susan, Valerie, Andrew, Tricia; and her great-aunt, Jean. The family is grateful to the staff at Sunrise for the kind care given to Marie. For years she had the aid and caregiving of Cathy Gonidis, who was very much appreciated. Most recently, Roghieh Esmaeilloo was her personal caregiver. We can't thank her enough for the love and attention that she gave to Marie. The family will be holding a private service. Donations in Marie's memory may be made to
Sharelife.org and selecting St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Mississauga.
