Marilyn MILNES Obituary

MARILYN FRANCES MILNES August 9, 1943 - May 7, 2022 Born on August 9, 1943 in Montreal, died peacefully at home in Toronto after a long illness on May 7, at the age of 78. Survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Robert; her sisters-in-law, Tessa and Prue Milnes of Vermont; brother-in-law, Paul Garwood of Bolton, PQ; nephews James and Richard (Jenn) Garwood; and great-nephew Lennox. Predeceased by her sister-in-law Claire Garwood. Marilyn was the only child of William and Frances Loken. Raised in Montreal and Ottawa, Marilyn graduated from McGill ( BA, 1964; Library Sciences, 1966), and moved to Toronto in 1969 to work as a Librarian with Toronto Public Library. For many years Marilyn was a volunteer with the Volunteer Committee of the National Ballet, working at Paper Things. A passionate gardener, Marilyn was also an active member of The Garden Club of Toronto. For many years Marilyn sailed with her husband on their Shark and then C & C 27 out of Royal Canadian Yacht Club. She also shared her husband's love of the West Coast, spending many happy summer holidays in Victoria, the Gulf Islands and Tofino. At Marilyn's request there will be no funeral. A private cremation has taken place. If desired, donations can be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.
