MARILYN SCHELL Obituary
(November 1, 1954 – February 17, 2026) It is with great sadness that the family of Marilyn Schell announce her passing, at home on February 17, 2026, in her 72nd year. In her final days, Marilyn was surrounded by her family and friends, including husband, Tom Cooper; stepsons, Thomas (Sarah) and Jake (Jessica); grandson, Stirling; and brother, Ron Schell. She will also be greatly missed by her sister-in-law, Christine Fearn (Bill); nephews, David, Aaron and Andrew Schell; and many friends. She will be remembered for her loving, sweet nature and being the centre and primary driver behind family events over many decades. An avid sailor and excellent first mate, she was never shy about working on a heaving deck throughout 15 years of sailing. She was also a very accomplished quilter, producing many incredibly intricate quilts that will become family heirlooms. Other accomplishments included the creation of beautiful gardens, cooking, and rustling up some especially delicious briskets on her smoker. She was never happier than when doing something quietly generous for family and friends. Marilyn enjoyed a long and happy career working for the Consumers' Gas Company and later Enbridge Gas Distribution, where she had many friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Kate Pulman and her team for the incredible care Marilyn received throughout her almost four years of treatment, as well as Dr. Philip Ye and the many homecare nurses who provided compassionate palliative care to Marilyn in her final weeks. In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to make a donation to Trillium Health Partners Foundation, which funds worthwhile health programs in the Mississauga area. A celebration of life will occur at a future date.
