Although I don't remember meeting your beloved late Mother, my sister (Myrna) had spoken of Marion's accomplishments in the Social Work field, publishing, teaching, an extraordinary person for family and mentorship. A loss to the community. Please accept my deepest condolences on your personal loss:, By Geoffrey,Shauna, their children and extended families, may you find comfort that you are joined by the larger community. I am so so sad to learn of Marion’s passing. She was so powerful in my and so many others’ social work and academic lives, such a strong guiding force. Marion mentored me into the Faculty of Social Work’s field education leadership and there isn’t another who could do so, so knowledgeably, with such integrity and insight. I knew I would always be sliding around in those huge shoes. As colleagues we became friends, travelling together to conferences, always laughing, and began to write about field education together. I missed her so when I moved to BC. I can’t really imagine a world without Marion, she looms so large in my heart and memory. My heart goes out to her family. With love

Marion was my mentor and we had just reconnected last June during which she provided me again with instrumental support. She was the best combination of brilliant brain with the pragmatic ability to implement and operationalize which is, unfortunately, so rare in academia even in social work. The time she spent nurturing me and shaping my talent was priceless, and I pledge her to pay it forward and carry on her exceptional work in my own small way. I want to express my deepest condolences to her family and friends and also just to let you know what a huge footprint Marion has and the legacy that will continue because of it.

Marion was an inspiration to social workers in Canada and the United States. Her leadership changed the face of social work globally. On a personal note, I am a professor emeritus and researcher from Maryland and she was a personal mentor who met with me when I first was working on my doctorate and shared her unpublished work and developed measures so that I could expand the field performance literature. She was always in demand at conferences and yet always generous, wise and warm with her time and ideas. I was devastated to hear of her death and our incredible loss. My thoughts are with her family and friends today. I am thinking of you Marion.

I had the priviledge of learning from Marion and working with her during my PhD. Now as a professor, I use her teachings every single day and through me, she will have reached each one of the students that I go on to teach and everyone they work with. I am a better teacher and social worker because of her dedication, and generosity, and am forever indebted to her for that.

I am one of Marion’s many MSW students at the faculty of social work. It’s hard to capture in words how remarkable Marion was. Brilliant, kind, caring, inspiring and driven. In the summer, I was struggling and she was there for me in an instant. She was always there for a drop in and answered my many questions. She never made me feel like a burden. I was so lucky to learn from her. She was an incredible mentor to me and a social worker who I looked up to. Sending lots of love to her family, friends and to all those who were lucky to know Marion. She has played a huge role in my journey as an MSW student and she will never be forgotten. May her memory be a blessing.

I felt sadness to hear of Prof Bogo's passing this morning. But I know her as a guru in field instruction in social work education, and someone who I greatly admired for her work. I used her work extensively during my Phd studies. Just a month ago we were privileged to receive from her a beautifully written Forward for our forthcoming handbook on fieldwork in the global south. Rest in Peace, Prof Bogo. From Rajendra Baikady and Varoshini Nadesan (Johannesburg, South Africa)
