ALMON, Marjorie Eunice
Halifax. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2002. Born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia she was a daughter of the late Judge Allan and Christina (MacKinnon) Macdonald. She was educated at Mount Saint Bernard and was graduated from St. Francis Xavier University. Prior to her marriage, she worked for Manufacturers Life, in Halifax. She was a faithful member of Saint Agnes Parish. She was a long time active member of the Mount Saint Bernard Alumnae Association, Engineers' Wives, and a former member of the Waegwoltic Club, Ashburn Golf Club and the Halifax Curling Club and, until recently, enjoyed spending her summers at the family cottage at Mahoney's Beach on St. George's Bay, Antigonish. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Daniel W. (Danny); her daughter, Christene (Peter Wade), Dartmouth; five sons, Alan (Carol), Calgary; Daniel (Deborah), Michael (Ann), David and Kenneth (Sharon) all of Halifax; sister, Kathleen (Kay) and brother, Alan (Annemarie), both of Halifax; sister-in-law Muriel Macdonald (Antigonish); 11 grandchildren: Kirsten Almon, Toronto; Jeffrey, Gregory and David Almon, all of Calgary; Marc and Daniel Almon, Halifax; Alan Almon, Halifax; Alexandra and Patrick Wade, Dartmouth; and Sarah and Jennifer Almon, Dartmouth; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, Andrew; brother, J. Douglas Macdonald, QC; and sister, Rosalind Harding. Visitation 2-4 p.m., 7-9 p.m., Monday, May 20 at Snow's Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Agnes Church, corner of Mumford and Chebucto Roads on Tuesday, May 21. Father Lloyd O'Neill officiating. Internment in the family plot, St. Ninian's cemetery, at a later date. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Mother Berchman's Residence where Marjorie resided for the past 17 months and at Parkstone, during her recent brief stay. The kindness, respect, and compassion shown her was deeply appreciated by the family. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to assist in finding a cure for Alzheimer's disease or a charity of choice.
