Marta TOOKE Obituary

Well, am off to see my loved ones in heaven - my mom and dad, Pat and Einar; my brother, Eric; and most of all, my wonderful husband, Frank. I was born in Toronto, Ontario, and went to school at Havergal College, where I became Head Girl in my last year. Then on to Ryerson University to study Journalism, after which I worked for a local TV station and an advertising agency as a copywriter. My childhood was so much fun... I loved sports, the Toronto Maple Leafs, going to the cottage every summer, all my friends at school, the Junior League and beyond. Probably my best experience was when Frank, Richard and I lived in England for four years - we saw almost every European country plus everything in London. Then it was back to Toronto for four years, and then onto Raleigh! I loved it here - played bridge, went to water aerobics, got to go to many States and met many more friends. I will miss my super son, Richard; my two wonderful grandchildren, Will and Ben; my sister, Karen; and sister-in-law, Gloria. I don't want a funeral (have gone to too many), just my ashes taken to where my parents and Frank are in Shanty Bay, Ontario. To all my friends, thanks for making my life so great... See y'all!

To Richard and Karen, I share in your sadness . After several years, Marta and I recently reconnected.
We shared numerous memories.
She was the very best doubles partner, which we both enjoyed with laughter, memories of Ravenscroft parents duties, mutual ancestry and so much more.
Thank you for the memories Marta

Such sad news to hear of Marta's passing. She was a good friend and a wonderful person. We will always remember her as one of the most gracious people we met in Raleigh. Her style and ability to make all around her feel welcomed and enjoyed can never be out done.
